The 'Mythology' project is my take on the Almanac Twelve Gods—a creative detour from my historical fiction work. When I started sketching, my first draft was straight-up American comics (laughs), but the second draft evolved into this fusion: Eastern essence wrapped in Western aesthetics. Today, I made a sequential PV featuring five of them: a white-robed youth storming out of the celestial gates, with a silhouette calling after him as the opening scene... The full PV will drop after I finish all twelve god designs and their themed entrance animations. I plan to use Blender’s liquid metal effect for the flowing titles.
About today’s five deities:
Vermilion Bird (Zhuque): Often tied to quarrels in folklore, but also a symbol of vitality—essentially the Eastern phoenix.
Celestial Punishment (Tianxing): The stern-faced judge of legends; my version is a severe yet pure-hearted child.
Luminous Hall (Mingtang): In tales, it’s the ancient court of rites, so I drew him in triple-layered official robes.
Black Tortoise (Xuanwu): Armored with a shell, ruler of water in myths—sometimes vilified, yet one of the Four Celestial Kings.
Golden Treasury (Jinkui): Heaven’s accountant. I used muted gold on his robes for gravitas. Everyone loves the God of Wealth’s cousin, right?
